It's the first week of Spring! And though it may not really feel like it, let's keep fingers crossed for more sun. Mar. 26: Fairytale Town Goes Green
Fairytale Town and local organizations are spending the day promoting environmental awareness.  Bring your kids so the whole family can learn about global warming, conservation and pollution. Kids can participate in all sorts of recycled hands-on art activities. "The Three Little Pigs" will be performed by the Puppet Art Theater with a conservation twist. Puppet show tickets are $1 for members and $2 for nonmembers. Children aged one and younger get in free. Showings will be held at 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.

Cheer Up, Buttercup! Mar. 14-Mar. 20

Brighten up this last bit of winter blues with some events this week and by helping the Japanese during this difficult time. Celebrate St. Patrick's Day safely and grab a cab. Also, join the Japanese tsunami relief efforts by donating money to the Red Cross, donating your airline miles, or helping other organizations.

ST. PATRICK'S DAY
St. Patrick's Day Party in the Park and Pub Party
Celebrate St. Patty's Day at de Vere's Irish Pub in grand style. Head over for the Party in the Park or Pub Party. This year's Party in the Park was created by de Vere's and the Downtown Sacramento Partnership, and will be held at Cesar Chavez Plaza located at 10th and J streets. Events will be held there all day from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Entry costs $20 in advance, $25 day of. Proceeds will benefit Maryhouse. Complimentary safe rides will be provided for you and your car thanks to Last Call Sacramento from Cesar Chavez Plaza for Party in the Park patrons.
For those who want to stick to the pub, enjoy the Pub Party that will be held all day. The pub will open at 8 a.m. and the sidewalks will be shut at 11 a.m. for the extended sidewalk party. Learn about map and compass basics at Effie Yeaw Nature Center with docent Jennifer Kerr. Kerr will teach participants how to read a map and use a compass, then participants will go on an easy walk to find specific locations on a map and answer questions about them.
