Jan. 14: Movie Night Pajama-Rama at Arden Hills Resort Club and Spa
The event will be held monthly and is offered to children ages 6-11. Bring your kids in their favorite pajamas to watch movies, enjoy treats, popcorn and beverages. Kids are welcome to bring sleeping bags, pillows, blankets and stuffed animals. Parents get in for free, are welcome to stay for the movie or are invited to spend time at the resort's Mangos Restaurant.

Jan. 15-16: Great Train Expo
Visit Cal Expo for the Great Train Expo. There will be more than 350 tables and more than 50 exhibitors, operating model railroads, a large riding train for kids, door prizes, demonstrations, workshops, and trains for kids to operate.

Jan. 16: "Drop, Yak, Splat!: A Museum Adventure for Families" at Crocker Art Museum
"Drop, Yak, Splat!" is held each third Sunday where, according to Crocker's site, "different artworks provide inspiration for a stimulating gallery experience for families and children of all ages."

Jan. 11: Art Service Group Evaluation and Appraisal DayEver wanted to get that old painting appraised? Think Grandma may have left you a small fortune with that map? Head to Crocker Art Museum for an informal appraisal with Charles Gray. The Art Service Group is sponsoring the event focusing on evaluations of paintings, prints, antique maps, lithographs, water colors and etchings.
$10 per item, $45 for five items. Appointments are required, and available from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Walters will lead the workshop that is considered intermediate to advanced levels. There will be an emphasis on broad and direct painting approach and a focus on creative "interpretation" from photographic reference. Jan. 16: "Media that Matters" Short Film Fest
Movies on a Big Screen presents, "Media that Matters." It is a short film fest of socially-conscious shorts from 2010. The fest has been compiled by Arts Engine in New York, and consist of shorts made by student and independent filmmakers.
