Tango, ballet, salsa and bachata will be performed as part of the tango show. Ernesto Rassi directed the musical history depiction of tango. Along with dancing, there will singing and music.

The city's first nonprofit yoga studio will hold its grand opening. Longing to learn to belay? Presented by Peak Adventures, a CSUS student-run group, learn the basics to belay. Learn how to use ropes and other safety equipment to keep a climbing partner safe, standard climbing commands, how to tie a double fisherman's knot, how to tie a figure-8 follow through knot and a pre-climb safety check. Not only will you learn all this, but by the end you'll be able to safely belay a climber on a wall and lower them back to the ground.
Leave your technical gear at home, it is provided on campus.

Sep. 25: Taste of Lodi Wine Camp
The inaugural event is an all day event before the Taste of Lodi. Start early in a Lodi vineyard picking grapes. A viticulture demonstration will teach about the growing process. Two vineyard tours follow and have lunch with the winemaker. Attend a wine blending class and a wine and food pairing class. A winery dinner will end the fruitful day. Sep. 18: Bark for Life of Rancho Cordova
Stretch your paws and wag your tail. The American Cancer Society Bark for Life is a noncompetitive, fund-raising walk event for the pooches and their people. Demonstrations, contests and games will follow the walk.
Registration starts at 8:15 a.m. Opening ceremonies begin at 9:15 a.m. The walk goes from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Sep. 17-19: Fourth annual American River Music Festival
The main stage will be held on the banks of the South Fork of the American River in the Coloma-Lotus Valley. There will be shuttle service, three riverfront campgrounds, a whitewater river trip, guided riverfront hike and a wine tasting trip.

Sep. 15: 13th annual Seratonin Surge Charities Golf Tournament
Raise your clubs to raise funds for Seratonin Surge Charities. Sign up for the early morning back nine and/or the classic noontime 18 hole shotgun scramble.

Peak Adventures, a program organized by CSUS students, is holding their hike of the month at the UC Davis Arboretum. It will be a short hike through the 100 acre property that features more than 22,000 trees and plants.

Sep. 18: Basic Rock Climbing class
Peak Adventures that brought Sep. 17 Hike of the Month and the bike repair clinic is offering a basic rock climbing class. It is an all day course to introduce beginners to outdoor rock climbing. Topics covered include: knot tying, belaying, general equipment use and basic climbing techniques. The fees include expert instruction by Peak Adventures climbing staff, transportation and all climbing gear.

If you've got an itch for a day trip, consider heading over to Reno, NV for the world's longest running air race. There will be real air racing among six classes of aircraft. There will be historic airplane displays and aerobatic exhibitions.

Hurry Up, Buttercup!

The Sacramento Historic City Cemetery will start selling their Lantern Tour tickets on Sep. 13. They typically sell out within a week, so hurry to take advantage of this spooky fund-raising opportunity!

The Lantern Tours will be held Oct. 22, Oct. 23, Oct. 29 and Oct. 30. The tours are the primary fund-raiser for the cemetery which has suffered severe budget cuts and relies heavily on volunteers and "gravely needed" donations.

Bring a flashlight (and brave face) and experience costumed docents telling stories of historic and notable cemetery residents by lantern light. You'll be led into the deep and dark of the cemetery.

Visit Sutter's Fort on Saturday to see history come to life as the fort and its actors play out the hardships and everyday life of the time.

Tickets: Kids 5 and under get in free, kids ages 6 to 12 get in for only $5. Everyone else gets in for $12. The Budweiser Family Package is $40 and includes two adult tickets, up to three children 12 years old and under, a parking pass and commemorative poster.
Just to warn you, parking is $10 per vehicle and they only accept cash. No in and out privileges, but there is free bike parking!

Sep. 11: FREE ADMISSION! 14th Annual Skimfest 2010
If you're braver than the typical skimmer (a book or website skimmer), head over to Paradise Beach near Glenn Hall Park for the Skim Fest. Free to watch, but there are entry fees if you want to compete. $25 for beginners/intermediate skimmers, $35 for advanced. And hey, you get a Skimfest tee for registering. Registration starts at 9 a.m. There will be lots of prizes and cash prizes for the advanced division.

Local athletes will compete in this weightlifting competition put on by the Arden Hills Resort Club and Spa's strength and conditioning instructors. Olympic lifts such as the "Snatch" and the "Clean and Jerk" will be exhibited.

Sep. 11-12: American Cancer Society's Relay for Life of Orangevale
Camp out at Louis Pasteur Middle School in Orangevale for the Relay for Life event from 10 a.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Sunday. Teams are organized to compete in the relay benefiting the American Cancer Society, honoring cancer survivors and paying tribute to lives lost. The relay is divided into four events: a "Celebrate" ceremony at 10 a.m. Saturday, survivor's lap at 10:30 a.m., a "Remember" ceremony at 9 p.m. and finally a "Fight Back" ceremony at 9:30 a.m. Sunday.

Sep. 11: 16th annual California Brewers Festival
