Cheer Up, Buttercup! Nov. 15-Nov. 21

The holiday season is peeking around the corner, making sure you're preparing. Fortunately, there are numerous things to do to take your mind off whether or not to make the stuffing from scratch or what stores are having sales within hours after the feast. So cheer up, buttercup! This week has tons of events to look forward to.

FAMILY AND PETS
Nov. 17: Wee Wednesday at the Crocker Art Museum
Children ages 3 to 5 will enjoy this "gallery-based play date."
Free with museum admission. Advance registration is required. Adults get in for $10. Seniors and college students (with student ID) get in for $8. Children ages 7 to 17 get in for $5. Children ages 6 and younger get in for free.

Nov. 18: Yo Gabba Gabba Live
DJ Lance Rock, Muno, Foofa, Toodee, Brobee, and Plex are coming to Memorial Auditorium for a show that will keep your little ones hopping (literally). Hip-hop legend Biz Markie will be featured. The group is on their "Yo Gabba Gabba! Live! There's a party in my city!" tour. Even the title will get your kids dancing.
Healthy food and beverages will be available for the whole family.
$1 per ticket sold will support our local Habitat for Humanity affiliate.

Nov. 19-21: Sacramento Harvest Festival
Early holiday arts and crafts shopping is available for a full weekend through the Sacramento Harvest Festival. Find a great gift in all the jewelry, original art, clothing, toys, pottery, specialty foods and home decor. The show has partnered with Sacramento's Big Brothers Big Sisters to be its official charity. The organization will receive all proceeds from the sales of shopping bags and parcel check.
There will be live musicians, puppeteers and strolling performers. The festival will also have a Kidzone.
Children ages 12 and younger get in free. Children ages 13 to 17 get in for $4. Seniors get in for $7. Adult admission is $9. For tickets, visit here.

The Lutheran Church of the Resurrection is hosting the holiday craft faire featuring handmade items, specialty food and unique gifts.

Nov. 20: Candlelight Tours of Sutter's Fort
Experience an evening of living history by candlelight at Sutter's Fort. The tour will offer glimpses into the private lives of those who called Sutter's Fort home and lived through success and tragedy.
Refreshments will be served at the end of the tour served in a complimentary period-style tin cup.
The tour is rated PG-13.

Nov. 20-21: "Gobble-Gobble!" Thanksgiving Activities
Appreciate the turkey with crafts before your taste buds. The Discovery Museum Science and Space Center will hold a Thanksgiving activity weekend.
The whole family can learn about both wild and domesticated turkeys. Children 12 and younger can have turkey craft fun. All visitors can enjoy the Turkey Trot Scavenger Hunt.
Children 3 and younger get in free. Ages 4 to 12 get in for $4. Teens 13 to 17 and seniors get in for $5. Adults get in for $6.

Nov. 17: Simon and Garfunkel Retrospective
The tribute to Simon and Garfunkel's music has been performed by AJ Swearingen and Jonathan Beedle for more than a decade.

Nov. 18: Zion I Performs
Zion I will be at CSUS' University Union Ballroom for a live performance. The Hold Up and Random Abiladeze with ZuhG will also perform.

Nov. 19-21: 24th Annual West Coast Ragtime Festival
Try out ragtime in Sacramento. The Ragtime Festival has been held in Sacramento since 1997. This year will feature six indoor venues to enjoy this traditional American music.

If you're interested in photography but don't know where to start, visit Beatnik Studios for their basics photography workshop. Nov. 19-21: Give Thanks Yoga Festival
In time for the Thanksgiving holiday is the yoga festival that supports the spirit of giving and gratitude. Participants are asked to contribute to a food drive. Gifts will be donated to St. John's Lutheran Church. Wade Morissette, Scott Emerich, Tyler Langdale and Ryan Bailey will lead classes.
Individual classes are $30. Buy a weekend pass for $125.

Nov. 20: FREE ADMISSION! Autumn Color Garden Tour

Nov. 21: Tweed Ride: A Slow Cycle Adventure
Back to the days of single gears, swell clothing and a leisurely pace. Enjoy a casual bike ride under fall foliage. Suggested attire includes tweed, tartan, plaid, lace, top hats, argyle, wool, vests, knickers, bowties, suspenders, moustaches and generally anything that adds a smile to your face that day.

There will be a pre-ride power breakfast at Kupros Cafe (1217 21st St.) at 9 a.m., a gathering at the Bike Kitchen (1915 I St.) from 10:30-11 a.m. The ride will pedal off at 11 a.m.

Nov. 20: Masquerade Gala Benefit for Sacramento Artists Council, Inc.
The inaugural event features a black tie dinner, string trio, fashion show and art auction. Grab your cocktail dress or tux and enjoy beverages from Sudwerk and Railbridge Cellars. Desserts from Babycakes Bakery will top off a surprise dinner.
Art sales will benefit the artists (80%) and the Sacramento Artists Council, Inc. (20%).
