Cheer Up, Buttercup! Nov. 29-Dec. 5

Whether you're interested in upping the holiday excitement or are looking for a break from all the red and white, this week's Cheer Up Buttercup offers enough to make everyone happy. There are events for everyone, no matter your budget, schedule or interests.

FAMILY AND PETS
Dec. 3-4: Fairytale Town's Winter Wonderland
Dunk the whole family in holiday spirit with Fairytale Town's Winter Wonderland. Visit Father Christmas, vendors, enjoy live holiday entertainment and participate in activities all under holiday lights.
The park will be closing its doors at 2 p.m. both of these days to prep for the event.

Dec. 4: FREE ADMISSION! Zipperback Kids Snow Glove Expo

MUSIC AND ARTS
Dec. 1: FREE ADMISSION! CSUS' "Name That Tune" Gameshow
Fans of the classic gameshow may be thrilled to know that they can participate in the CSUS version of the game during UNIQUE Program's Wednesday Nooner series. It will be hosted by KSSU's Marty McFly in Redwood Room.

Dec. 2: Film Frame: "Cleophas and His Own: A North Atlantic Tragedy"
Learn about American poet and painter Marsden Hartley at the Crocker Art Museum. Learn about Hartley's tragic personal loss, secret devotion and his sexual passion in his own words. Director Michael Maglaras will provide the introduction and discussion.
This event requires reservations so pick up tickets online or at the Admission Desk.

Dec. 2: Country Christmas Performance
Kick off your country Christmas with KNCI at Arco Arena. Craig Morgan, Rodney Atkins and Uncle Kracker will perform.

Dec. 3: Murder Mystery Dinner
Get your solve on! The Napa Valley Wine Train is hosting the dastardly night featuring a four-course meal.
Check in is at 5:30 p.m. Departure is 6:30 p.m. and the train returns at 9:30 p.m.

Dec. 3-5: FREE ADMISSION! Davis Art Center's 20th Annual Holiday Sale
Seventy artisan booths will offer the craftiest of products for this fundraiser. It is the largest fundraiser for the art center and will offer locally produced products and food.

Dec. 4: Maria Muldaur's Blues and Jazz Christmas Concert
You may pause at the name, but does "Midnight at the Oasis" ring a bell? Muldaur is famous for this hit song, and will be at the 24th Street Theatre/Sierra 2 with special guests The Harley White Jr. Trio on Dec. 4.

Dec. 4-5: Upon a Midnight Clear Holiday Concert
Catch the Sacramento Children's Chorus for a holiday performance. The concert will feature five of the SCC's choirs, harpist Bev Wesner-Hoehn and her harp ensemble, Celestia.
General admission is $15. Students and children get in for $10.

Dec. 4-5: Procession of Carols' 26th Annual Concerts
Sac State's annual Procession of Carols will include the men's chorus, women's chorus and university chorus. Narrated by Richard Adams, the concerts will include organist Stephen Janzen.

Dec. 5: Mariachi Los Camperos de Nati Cano 
Nati Cano and his mariachi band, Los Camperos, will perform a holiday concert Dec. 5. "Fiesta Navidad" will include interpretations of Mexican and American holiday songs and stage show.
Students tickets range from $12.50-$24.50. Subscriber add-on tickets range from $21-$42. General admission is $25-$49.

Nov. 30: Peter Hillary Speaks
Hillary is the son of adventurer Sir Edmund Hillary and made history in 1990 by being the first son to have followed his father's footsteps and climbed Mt. Everest.
Hillary will be in Sacramento to speak about his 30 expeditions during the Sacramento Speakers Series at the Community Center Theater.
Audience members must have a series subscription to attend.

Dec. 3-5: Thirty-seventh Annual Sacred Heart Parish Holiday Home Tours

The third annual event is a collaboration of Natomas Charter School's art departments. This year's event will support Autism Speaks, an organization that aims to "bring the autism community together as one strong voice to urge the government and private sector to listen to our concerns and take action to address this urgent global health crisis."
